Sharon Koopman

Sharon Suzanne Koopman (60) passed away unexpectantly on March 14, 2024,
suffering a massive heart attack.
Born March 25,1963 to The Late Marvin (Bud)and Dolores Koopman. Sharon grew
up in Chicago and resided in Glen Ellyn, Il for the past 24 years. She is survived by her
mother Dolores, brothers, Keith, and Mark (Debbie). Sharon derived great joy from
spending time with and spoiling her nieces and nephews: Mitchell Koopman, Danny
Koopman (Katie), Beth Rack and Lauren Koopman. She then took spoiling to a whole
new level when she became a great-aunt to Harper and Camden Koopman and Paisley
Rack. She also leaves behind numerous close cousins and her Shriner family and
friends.
Sharon held various administrative positions with Black and Veatch since 2001. While
work was a necessity, her passion was food and cooking. In 2023, she restarted her
side gig as a Pampered Chef consultant.
Sharon was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn. She lived a
life of service from a young age. Sharon was a member of Jobs Daughters where she
served as Honored Queen. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile and a
past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Sharon was a devoted supporter of the Medinah
Shriners’ mission to raise funds for Shriners Children’s Chicago. In 2020, she served as
First Lady when her brother Keith was Potentate. Not even Covid could dampen her
fund-raising efforts. While she was unable to host the traditional Fashion Show
fundraiser, she found a way to raise a record amount of money for the hospital that year.
At Shriner events, Sharon could typically be found with a roll of raffle tickets in hand and
ready to take your money.
Sharon had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to dance, cook, garden, and just have
fun. She gave her all to everything she did and was always willing to lend a hand.
Sharon has packed up her pampered chef supplies to go cook in her dream kitchen in
the sky. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
