Juliann Spatafore, Age 72. Beloved daughter of the late Michael and Louise (nee Chiappe). Dearest sister of Michael (Denise) and John Spatafore and Fond Sister in law of Kelli Spatafore, Dear aunt of Gina (Jeff) Tomaszewski, Marisa (Eric) Grossnickle, Jon Michael (Mackenzie) Spatafore and Alexis Spatafore. Great aunt of Gianna, Luciana, Mia and Vinnie, Dear Niece of The Late Ernesta Chiappe. Great friend to many at her home at St. Mary of Providence.
Juliann was a kind hearted, and fun loving girl, full of laughs and giggles. She loved to dance and move to her favorite music, country music that is, especially Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. As a connoisseur of spaghetti, chocolate cake and ice cream, we’d always hear “Mmmm that’s good.” She enjoyed sitting with her Good Housekeeping magazines or even the food ads in the newspaper, pouring over all the culinary delights, with Oohs, Aahs and Mmmms, and comments of “Delicious.” She would always be sure to ask you, “What’d you have for breakfast, or what’d you have for dinner?” One of our fondest memories is the way she would emerge from her bedroom in the evening ready for bed, adorned with her favorite earrings, necklace and bracelets. Such a fancy lady! We were all blessed to have Juliann in our lives, she was loved by all who knew her, truly a gift from God! We’ll miss you our sweet angel!
Our heartfelt thanks to Sister Mercy, the staff and caregivers at St. Mary’s where Julie lived for almost thirty years. We appreciate the wonderful care she received. Donations can be made in Juliann’s name to St. Mary of Providence at www.smopchicago.org

We are fortunate to have grown up with Auntie Julie in our lives, and when I think of her, I think of a quiet joy. She was happy - wearing a bright smile that made her eyes crinkle. And quiet, yet always observing and enjoying the world around her. She had a sparkle in her eye when she saw you, and they would dazzle with some of her favorite things - a good meal (ravioli especially), desserts and music. She loved music, and her favorites that she would sing her heart out to - Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. At night, she would disappear for a moment to change into her evening attire - long, dangly earrings, and a bold necklace. And she would put on her favorite music to sing and dance to. She would also bring her bird, Pesty, out of the cage to greet you. Auntie Julie taught us acceptance. She helped us to be more aware and understanding of Down's syndrome and show empathy toward others with any disability. And her unconditional love, kindness and joy was pure - and that encouraged and taught us to show the same to all. Thank you, Auntie Julie, for the love and joy you brought to our family. And while we will miss you, we know you are reunited with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Ernesta and all of your friends from St. Mary's. And we hope you are dancing and singing to Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton once again.
