On December 7th, 2024, James Enrico DelGiorno passed away peacefully and our family dynamic has forever changed. He was the absolute patriarch of a large Italian family. Affectionately known to others as “Jim”, “Jimmy” or “Damen” DelGiorno. He was the loving husband of Marie (nee Graziano) DelGiorno for 60 years. Jim and Marie enjoyed dancing, traveling, golfing, Cubs games, spending time with family, and absolutely anything involving their grandchildren. He was the proud father of three beautiful daughters, Theresa (Jim) Blackburn, Phyllis (Steve) Koldenhoven, and AnnMarie (Ken) Jones. He was the definition of an all around girl dad. Happy that each of them married, he finally had son-in-laws to bond with. He spent time calling everyone to check in with a 2-question checklist. Proud Papa to seven grandchildren, Isabelle, Natalie, Samantha, Amanda, Ellie, Grace, and Nolan. He absolutely loved being a Papa. He spent countless days participating in everyone’s activities, from dance competitions and sporting tournaments to fine art contests and school events. He was often found on the sidelines offering enthusiastic support. No matter the event, they could always count on his unwavering encouragement. Jim loved to travel. The memories made at the numerous work reward trips, extended weekends with friends, the annual “DelGiorno” beach vacations and the “unforgettable” trip to Italy, where he reconnected with extended family will be cherished forever! Adored Son of the late John and Theresa DelGiorno, loving brother of the late Fred (Lorraine), Joseph (Shirley), and Josephine DelGiorno. A dear Brother-in-law to Anthony Graziano, Ronald (Dawn) Graziano, Janet (the late Jack) Graziano, and the late Theresa (Robert) Schiavone. Affectionately known as “Uncle Damen” to Johnny (Joan) DelGiorno, Denise (Bob) Blaul and the late Fred DelGiorno. The fond uncle and great uncle to many more nieces and nephews. Anyone who met Jim immediately became family or a friend. He had the best way of making them feel like he had known them forever and they would be friends for life. He had a contagious energy that people instantly gravitated towards. Jim’s life was defined not by the things he had, but by the people he loved. He was always quick with a story and a laugh. Spending time with him made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. Heaven gained another angel. Jim will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him! His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us.
