Grace M. Abesamis, a cherished mother, devoted wife, loving sister, and doting grandmother, passed away and went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2023, at the age of 62. Grace was born on November 24, 1960, in Manila, Philippines and her legacy is one of boundless compassion and selflessness.

Throughout her life, Grace demonstrated an unyielding commitment to putting others before herself, serving as Christ did. Her loving spirit shone brightly in her role as a nursing home activity director, where she dedicated many years to bringing joy and comfort to the lives of those under her care. Grace’s kindness, warmth, and endless empathy made her a beloved figure among both residents and colleagues.

As a mother, Grace’s love knew no bounds. Her children were the center of her world and she instilled in them the values of kindness, generosity, and compassion that she embodied so beautifully. She was a pillar of strength, offering unshakable support and love to her family in both good times and bad.

Grace was not just a caring mother but also a loving wife and sister, always there to offer a listening ear or a helping hand. She cherished her deep connections with her husband, her sister, and her extended family, touching their lives with her boundless love.

As a grandmother, Grace’s tenderness and nurturing nature continued to shine. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she delighted in the simple joys of spending time with them, imparting the same values that defined her character.

In 2018 Grace was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare degenerative brain disease that affects movement, speech, swallowing, balance, and vision. With her loving husband by her side every step of the way as her caretaker, Grace faced this devastating neurological disorder with bravery and resilience. She displayed her strength and determination in the face of this challenging condition – never allowing it to define her spirit. Grace tackled each day with courage, becoming an inspiration to all around her.

Grace Abesamis leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. Her remarkable journey serves as a reminder that the world can be a brighter place when we prioritize serving the Lord and the needs of others, just as she did throughout her beautiful life. May her life serve as a reminder to live each day with gratitude, to embrace life’s challenges with resilience, and to make a difference in the lives of others. Grace will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Grace is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Dale Abesamis; mother, Marietta Magpantay; children, Darline Abesamis (In Sun), Mark Abesamis (Kristina), Erica Abesamis (Mark); grandchildren, Darin Hong, Zion Abesamis, Dade Ellison; sister, Andrea Alcedo (Ben); and multiple nieces and nephews.

Grace snd Dale took wonderful care of my mother-in-law, Sibyl (Nanaboo) for nine years in their group home in Lubbock Texas. They were such compassionate loving caregivers. Grace always wore a smile and made those around her feel better because of her cheerful attitude. We will be forever thankful that she was a part of our lives during those final years of our loved one’s life.
