Armando L. Macatangay passed away at his home in Glendale Heights on May 10, 2020, beloved husband for 47 years of Alicia Macatangay (née Paez); devoted father of Sherri (John Giertz) Macatangay and Audrey (Brian Hossler) Macatangay; proud grandfather of Brandon Clements; dear brother of Natividad Magbuhos, Ludivina Barrientos, Celso Macatangay, Flordeliza Macatangay, Luz Velasco, Amador Macatangay, Romeo Macatangay, Reynaldo Macatangay; and son to Raymundo Macatangay and Marcela (née Luna) Macatangay.
Armando was born on February 6, 1939 and moved from the Philippines to the United States in 1973. He worked as an accountant in downtown Chicago and retired as a banker in 2007. Armando was a tennis enthusiast and played for many years. He loved being outside, where he enjoyed gardening and caring for his home. If he wasn’t tending to his plants, he would be out shopping with his family. On any given moment, he loved to listen to music, especially classical music. Once Armando retired, he enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife and closest friends. All who knew Armando knew him as a man with an incredible sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Immediate services will be private. A memorial mass at St. Matthew Church will be held at a later date.
