So sorry to hear about Maryann. Just returned home from being on a trip. If ever a Saint walked upon us it was her. Maryann touched so many lives and I was happy to have known her. Her Pilot friend.

Ms. Grygiel was a beautiful and kind person. It was evident that she was involved in many activities within the community, always saw the good in everyone, and many people have seemed to have known her from many different places. I first met Ms. Grygiel when I was only five years old through the NDSEC Summer School Program back in 2008. She was a very kindhearted teacher, and me and the other young boys in that class at the time had a lot of fun going on field trips, singing fun songs, and doing many fun projects with her. Fast forward ten years later I reconnected with Mrs. Grygiel once again at Phil's Friends. I happened to see her there with her godson that day, and we were talking and catching up after not seeing each other after one decade. I happened to be wearing my choir t-shirt that day and when she saw I was wearing it she asked me if I would be able to sing the National Anthem at a Relay for Life Event which I was not sure what Relay for Life was at that time. Nonetheless, I excitedly said yes to the opportunity when it was offered. A few weeks after I saw her at Phil's Friends I sang at the Relay for Life Event which was a for a wonderful cause and a nice opportunity that she presented to me to be a part of. Mrs. Grygiel, it was very evident that you were loved by so many people and that you had touched many peoples' hearts as well. I am very gratified that our paths have crossed! May God Rest your Soul!

Thanks be to God for women like Mrs. Grygiel. I had the privilege of being one of her “substitute” students pretty often during my elementary and middle school years (she was a substitute teacher in the 90s and early 2000s). She was always so patient and kind with all, modeling the respect she expected all of us to show one another—and to all those we meet in our lifetimes. I’m grateful to be among those who knew her. May she rest in the Lord’s eternal peace. Amen.

Mrs. Grygiel was a huge supporter of me and the Medinah Dance Program. She loved seeing the kids dance and always encouraged the kids to get involved in their community. I always felt respected and supported by her. Her dedication, commitment and love for her community was so inspiring. I loved her confident go getter attitude. I will miss her dearly and hope our dance community can honor her in the coming year. I sadly I am teaching tonight and tomorrow and will not be able to attend services but I am sending love and virtual hugs her family and to all of us who are feeling a huge hole in our hearts since hearing the news last week. We love you Mrs. G! My goal this year is get more involved in my community and hopefully make you proud!

I have only known Marianne for the last couple of years, but in that time, while serving on the Rose Ambassador Committee, I came to know what a wonderful, loving giving, and caring person she was. As an early childhood teacher, I finally found someone who could put the instructional materials that I had retired witIh, to good use. I am but one of very many who will dearly miss her dearly.

Maryann was an incredible leader in the community. I'm thankful for her friendship. Our Son's grew up together. All of my children grew up in Roselle and formed lifelong friendships due to bonds they formed. Maryann was involved in all aspects of community and schools and events. That you for all the love you poured into everything you did.

Mrs. Grygiel was my teacher for two years in grade school at Ardmore School in Addison. She was definitely one of my favorite teachers in all of my school years. Seeing her picture brings back fond memories of the great teacher she was. RIP Mrs. Grygiel.

To Nick and the Grygiel Family, Maryann was an extraordinary person, thinking of others and how she could contribute to improve the lives of many. I appreciate all she did for the Medinah schools, always giving of herself. May she rest in peace. I keep your family in my prayers.

Thank you Maryann for all of your service to the community, and to my family. When you know someone for 18+ years, it is hard to imagine them no longer being in this world to talk with, laugh with, serve with and basically run into everywhere, all of the time in the most unexpected places, as we always did. You will be missed by many, but never forgotten. I never knew your real birth age, since you never disclosed the same age twice...lol....and it looks like you may have requested it to be kept off your passing obituary too...lol...always keeping them guessing, thinking and pushing forward. I can see that smile on your face right now, and changing the subject. Lol. Thank you for being in my and my children's lives all of these years. Rest in peace. Although I should really say, don't join on the Board of too many Committees up there, and hope you put in a good word to them for me when I come to visit in the future. I am sure you will have plenty of things for me to join in volunteering for. Lol. Priscilla Martyka & Children

I knew her from aqua Zumba class last year She had a lot of zest for life! And I know she also sold raffle tickets at the legion during car shows and again had a lot of zest especially when you think about her age which was hard to think about because she just wasn't like a kid In so many ways God bless you Maryanne

Maryann's 'superpower' was touching people's lives and hearts. In her career, clubs, and community she was loved and respected and a fearless crusader for the greater good. I had the joy of attending the annual prayer breakfast at Maryanns invitation and witnessed Maryann networking. She only met a stranger once, then you were a friend, (and potential contributor!) I will miss Maryann, as will many. Her eternal rest is well-earned.

Any one who says that "No one is irreplaceable" never met Maryannn. Her death is a tremendous loss to the many organizations that she served. She left her mark on everything she did and she did so much. We will all miss her and we will never forget her.

Maryann was a great lady. I remember when I was in the hospital about 6 months ago and my husband came to visit and told me Maryann was here, I didn’t realize he meant she was visiting someone. So later on I looked up and here’s Maryann in a gown and mask waving at me from the doorway! She wanted to say hi and to see how I was. She was always concerned about the others.
