It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Giacomo on Thursday morning, the 7th of March. He was born in Campobasso, Italy 1937. Giacomo was a devoted 2husband to Antonietta for 63 years, loving father to 4 children and a doting grandfather to 6. He resided in Glendale Heights for 47 years after moving from Forest Park in 1977. He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage. An avid member in the Flowers of Italy club in Melrose Park, he became president of the club multiple times and was an influence within the community and worthwhile philanthropic events. Giacomo actively participated in many endeavors of the JCIAA. After graduating from the Tool and Die Institute in 1972, a successful career of 28 years took place at BorgWarner. When he decided to retire his passions were quite simple but fulfilling. The most important was making his own wine from the best grapes. “solo il meglio” He enjoyed barbequing with friends and family and sitting in the garage talking about life. The many trips he took back to Italy were enjoyed by family traveling with him learning about ancestors and his growing up in San Marco. When family from Italy came to visit, he was a most gracious host and an ambassador to our sites. He is survived by his wife Antonietta, children Victor (Bonnie) of Schaumburg, Carmela (Tony) of Carol Stream, Josephine (Steve) of Bartlett & Theresa (Michael) of Villa Park. Grandchildren Andrew, Matthew, Samantha, Mark, Steven & Brooke. Giacomo will be missed by his many friends and extended family. RIP in the arms of our Lord. May the earth be light for you. We will always carry you in our hearts.
