Esperanza Escobar June 6, 1923 – June 22, 2024
Esperanza Escobar (nee Canchola) passed away at the age of 101 on June 22, 2024, with her beloved daughter, Rosemarie, by her side. Born in Parsons, Kansas, on June 6, 1923, Esperanza also spent a part of her life in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico, where her large family originated. The second oldest of 11 children, Esperanza learned at an early age how to take care of others and she did that her entire life. She was selfless and generous with anything anyone ever needed, whether it was a place to live, a bit of money to get them by or with a home-cooked meal—which was often because she was always cooking. Esperanza was a small lady with a large presence. She will be missed terribly by her family, who—although feel blessed to have had her in their lives for so long—will still feel her absence significantly. Esperanza was preceded in death by her loving husband Manuel, whom she was married to for 74 years, and her daughter, Mary. She is survived by her daughter Rosemarie (David); grandchildren Elizabeth (Juan), Jennifer (Doug); Aimee (Kevin) and John; great-grandchildren Anthony, Roman, Isabella, Zachary, Olivia and Arianna; and great-great-grandchildren Giovanni and Nadia.

My deepest sympathies to the family, Esperanza was a woman with a very generous heart, a friendly smile and laugh, her home was always open and full of friendly warmth. Yes, she will be missed and I will always remember her with love. She rests now with her loving husband, Manuel and her daughter, Mary Esther, my comadre, and in God’s loving arms. May the family find comfort that she is at peace.
